Dr. Collin Sharp, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Collin Sharp moved to Montrose in 2009 from Dallas, but he is a Colorado guy through and through! After graduating from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, he moved to Texas to complete his General Surgery residency at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Raised in Colorado, Dr. Sharp recalls that as a young boy he thought he might be a truck driver or television weatherman before he fell in love with health and science in fifth grade. He knew then that he would become a physician.
Well trained in all areas of General Surgery including laparoscopic, colorectal, breast, thyroid/parathyroid, trauma and emergency surgery, Dr. Sharp says, “I love that there is so much breadth and depth to general surgery.” He adds, “I love the satisfaction of seeing tangible results quickly and that I can do something that can make a huge difference in someone’s life.”
Dr. Sharp is board certified by the The American Board of Surgery, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is the Trauma Medical Director at Montrose Memorial Hospital. In addition to his regular work here in Montrose, he has volunteered to serve the Peruvian American Medical Society in Ayacucho, Peru. He looks forward to supporting this and other global medical efforts. He believes in life-long learning and continues to train with organizations such as The American College of Surgeons and Western Trauma Association to keep up on the latest advancements.
An avid skier and mountain biker, Dr. Sharp, his wife Lori and two children are enjoying the life they have established on the Western Slope of Colorado. They look forward to many more camping, hiking and four-wheeling outings here on the Western Slope and feel fortunate to call Montrose home. On some days off, Dr. Sharp will also steal away to fly a single engine airplane over the Black Canyon!
A big reason why Dr. Sharp chose Montrose is the friendliness of the townspeople and the support of the close knit medical community. Friends and family are of utmost importance to him, and he looks forward to “taking care of my neighbors.”
